Artist's Statement about this work: I would like to depict the strength of roadside plants, which people may not even notice. They are small and have uneven petals so they may not be as pretty as store bought flowers. But I felt a strong impact from them by their powerful energy and willingness to live; as if they are enjoying their freedom of life, as they are. They may bloom again next year, and show us the beauty of their freedom again.

Artist's Statement about this work: I was at the Utah State Fair and saw this very friendly pig. I thought domesticated pigs were pink, but this one had multi-colored body hair, and very hairy, so I wanted to paint that.

Artist's Statement about this work: This scene is behind my house on the Willow Creek trail where light is always putting on a different show. I was mesmerized by the glow of the moon mixing with the cold tree lights and the warmth from the house windows. It's a mix of cold and warm light and I want the viewer to be transported into this night walk with a sense of the awe I had when I captured it.

Artist's Statement about this work: Walking by the lighthouse in San Pedro, California , a voice behind me said, "Not One Bit. It hasn't changed one bit." It was a Navy Vet who had been there years before. The place hadn't changed but he had. The years had gone by but he was back to have a look at his past. I love capturing people in watercolor especially when the person walks up behind you and becomes a part of the artist's history.

Artist's Statement about this work: This was a blue door in Rousillon where they mine ochres for the world for paints. The flowers against the orange ocher stucco took my breath away and made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. It is a beautiful city.

Artist's Statement about this work: I like to paint people in action. Their efforts should be shown in a flattering way. The light blasted in this working kitchen illuminating the chef and his assistant as they worked to prepare our food.
