This mother/daughter pair were performing at a Christmas recital where they played a duet, performing a medley of songs from the opera Carmen. I captured this photo seconds before launching into their performance. I noticed that they briefly and silently communicated with each other with their eyes. Although the daughter was apparently experiencing some performance anxiety, I could see the love and trust she felt for her mother in her eyes and her facial expression. I tried to capture those feelings in this portrait.
